Posting to Posterous Using ScreenSteps
A couple of weeks ago I tried out Posterous. I was already familiar with the service as some of my friends use it for their blogs. When one of our customers started using ScreenSteps with Posterous I decided to give it a try.
What a great service. Posterous has removed all of the unnecessary steps from posting to your blog. I’m going to be experimenting with it more over the coming weeks but here is my first post showing how to make my favorite hot chocolate (tutorial made with ScreenSteps).
It turns out that ScreenSteps makes creating screen capture based tutorials in Posterous really easy. Here is a screencast showing how to integrate ScreenSteps and Posterous using the new copy to clipboard feature in ScreenSteps 2.7.

Swiss Miss is possible?

Tried the technique with Swiss Miss a few weeks ago to see what would happen. It doesn’t thicken up. I think you need a hot chocolate, not a hot cocoa, in order for it to work. Williams Sonoma has a hot chocolate that would probably work well.

Hey Trevor. For some reason, I am not able to PASTE the cliboard contents into my email. I tried it with GMail and Hotmail and when I go to paste the lesson, the paste option is greyed out like there is nothing there. Not sure what could be causing this. I am doing this on a Mac if that makes any difference.

Gmail and Hotmail won’t support pasting images from the clipboard. When ScreenSteps puts a lesson on the clipboard it references image files that are on your computer. When you are writing an email in a web browser using Gmail or Hotmail those images are not accessed. You will need to use a desktop email program like Outlook or Mail to be able to paste a lesson into an email.

I should point out that if you want to quickly attach a lesson to an email when composing the email in a browser then you should export a PDF to the clipboard. You can then quickly attach the email.
We have another blog post that shows how PDF works with Mailplane: http://www.bluemangolearning.com/blog/2009/12/using-screensteps-2-7-with-mailplane/
