Got a New iPad? We Have Some Lessons For You
We spend a lot of time telling organizations what good documentation should look like. Today we are going to show you. We have created an iPad documentation site. We want to demonstrate that creating documentation using ScreenSteps as well as our documentation methodology can be fast and effective.
Apple has provided videos and a PDF manual which are both great. But we don’t think that these take the place of good, visual, how-to guides on the web. The documentation we are creating for iPad is easy to follow, easy to create, and easy to find via Google.
Here is our criteria for our documentation project:
- It needs to be web accessible.
- It needs to be broken up into small sections, each one dealing with a single task (this becomes really important for searching and sharing answers to questions).
- It needs to have pictures. Lots and lots of pictures.
You can see the documentation site at: http://ipad.screensteps.com
We want to prove to everyone that you don’t need a lot of resources to do this. All the tools we have at our disposal include:
- One iPad
- Two people
- ScreenSteps Desktop
- ScreenSteps Live
That’s it. We got our iPad at the same time as everyone else. No head start. No special information.
As of this writing we have posted several Keynote lessons on moving presentations between your Mac and your iPad as well as some iBook lessons. We have many more to create and will be posting them throughout this week. They were all created starting this morning (Monday, April 5).
Apps we plan on covering include:
- iBooks
- Keynote
- Pages
- Numbers
- Safari
- Photos
If you would like to keep up to date on the lessons as we post them you can subscribe to our rss feed:
And if you have any iPad questions, post them in the comments below. Maybe we can add a lesson for you ;). The race is on. Let’s see how much two people can get done using an iPad, a simple methodology, ScreenSteps and ScreenSteps Live.
By the way, in case you were wondering, the iPad is awesome.
